The (Re)Claiming the New Westminster Waterfront project, and
RiverFest, New Westminster, BC, Fall 2013
I am a member of the (Re)Claiming the New Westminster Waterfront project, a public-private-academic partnership led by Peter Hall, a transportation geographer from Simon Fraser University. In the fall of 2013 I visited New Westminster, British Columbia, to participate in a tour of the Waterfront with Hall and other project partners, including the public officials and retired members of the local longshoreman’s union. I also gave three variations on a presentation called Ports and Urban Transformation, one each to local planning staff and elected politicians; the students of a transportation planning class; and a public lecture at the City’s annual RiverFest celebration.
